(Sweden) Prince Carl Philip has been edged out of the throne as his sister Princess Victoria married Daniel Westling today. Swedish royal succession policies changed in 1980 to make the monarch’s eldest child, regardless of gender, first in line for the throne. So, Princess Victoria will be the reigning queen coming up — edging out her bro by tying the knot.
Controversy has been hounding Princess Victoria’s wedding, as certain public sectors expressed their sentiments against the idea of public funds paying for the lavish wedding ceremony. In Facebook, 60,000 people joined the group called “Refuse to pay for Victoria’s wedding!”
For the wedding itself, there was some discrepancies about how the ceremony should play out. Traditionally, the bride and groom walk down the aisle together, but we hear Victoria wanted her father King Carl Gustaf XVI to walk her, too. So, both guys made the trek with the blushing bride — and the media had a field day with that one.
